To Our Daughter, Our Girl, Our World.
Today was your due date (06/08/2025), but like a true Sarkodie, whether you arrive early or late, somehow you are always on time.
And after laboring for over 30 hours, you came at the perfect time, in the perfect moment. You are already so determined, strong (literally this girl is strong!), yet calm and peaceful. These traits will serve you well on your journey. Remember to stay humble but remain confident in your abilities. You are all of us, you are the best of us!
To the women below, threads unseen, yet tightly sewn, through your path I will walk, through your path I will grow…
Joyce Baidoe-Ansah is my maternal great grandmother.
I am Joyce, I will be 90 years old this year. I am the matriarch of my family. I was born in the Ivory Coast but raised in Ghana. I am the last living great grandparent.
Nana Agyiewaa Okodie is my paternal great grandmother.
I am Nana Agyiewaa of Kumasi, Ghana Region. I am the matriarch of my family. I was a seamstress and a queen mother. Many of you know me, as I greeted you with love and laughter for many years at 6825 — and loved you all with all my heart. I am always with you in spirit even if I’m no longer with you in the physical world.
Aiko Baidoe – Ansah is my maternal grandmother.
I am Aiko. I was born in Japan , raised between London and Ghana, and fluent in French. My family is my purpose in life and my calling is to be a mother and grandmother. This is what drives me. I pray for safe keeping and protection during this life.
Olivia Sarkodie is my paternal grandmother.
I am Olivia. I was born in the Kumasi, Ghana Region. I am a comet, filled with spirit. I am free. I am unlimited. I am divine order. I am peace. Much Love.
Nana- Akua Fredua-Mensah aka “Nakes” Is my mother.
I am “Nakes”. I was born in New Jersey, raised between Ghana and London but moved across the pond to Chicago to purse my master’s degree. Though I’ve lived in many places, it was in Ohio were I found my heart. I am love; I am light.
Finally, Kofi Sarkodie is my daddy.
I am Kofi. I was born on a Friday in Dayton, Ohio, though I've traveled the world. Connecting with people and spreading joy is my foundation. Perseverance is my way. I am passion. I am strength. I am energy.
“Hi 😊. I am Zuri Afia Agyiewaa Sarkodie”
Zuri (Zer-re), Afia (A-fi-ah), Agyiewaa (Ah-Jay-Wa), Sarkodie (Sar-co-d)
I was born at 3:41am on Friday, May 30th in Chicago, IL.
I am the first of my line. In me flows the wit, kindness and strength of my great grandmothers, Grandma Oli’s fire and Grandma A’s loving spirit.
My name means beautiful “Zuri” born on Friday “Afia”, and I am named after my paternal great grandmother “Agyiewaa”, and I carry Sarkodie “strong as an eagle” proudly. Different people will know me by different names— In the U.S., they will call me Zuri. In Ghana, I’ll likely be known as Afia Agyiewaa. But to my close friends, I’ll simply be “Zas”. My daddy told me, I am everything that is behind me, but more importantly, I have the power to shape everything that will be in front of me. I am excited to meet you all and begin my journey.
